Saturday Morning Cartoons

This morning's cartoons, two from The Hubley Studio, come via Sweet Juniper. Be sure to read Jim's original post for background information - he researches these things well.

The soundtrack to the first animation below is provided by Hubley's daughters, but it could just as easily be my sister and me. We have a tape-recording of the two of us playing together, our parents busy in the next room. It begins with me reciting a Duncan Yo-Yo commercial: "Boys can come and boys can go, but I'll keep playing with my Duncan Yo-Yo." And ends, too, with our very own renditions of "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Rockabye Baby." Sisters are beautiful. And reckless. And bold.

Cockaboody

Moonbird

Suggested breakfast: Hot apple cider and Silver Moon buttermilk pancakes with maple cream on top. Made with the mess and abandon of a five year old. Sticky fingers and flour on the nose.

(A fantastically thorough collection of online clips for children can be found here: Dutch's Ultimate Anthology of Televised Toddler Entertainment.)
