In Which Things Have Come To My Recent Attention
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 08:15AM I sometimes picture the internet as a giant hall filled with people, and everyone is standing there pointing at each other. "Look, look at her!" "Over here, look at what this guy is doing!" You trust some people's pointing fingers more than others. Every once in a while, a few people in the hall will sit down on the ground and do a chalk drawing. Or take a picture. Or pull out a guitar. (As much as I'd like to take credit for this concept, it's not my new idea. It's been called the Creator/Curator phenomenon elsewhere.)
But a few sites have come to my recent attention, so I'm afraid you'll have to bear with me while I point for a moment:
- Things Magazine
- This Recording (I think they should rename their "blogroll" column "the internet," but maybe they're missing one or two sites.)
- Tomorrow Museum
I'm slightly intimidated by all three, and I like that. More things on the internet should be intimidating and exciting. I'm all for simple, modern lines, but once in a while you need someone to come in and Jackson Pollock up the place.
Oh and: while you're busy pointing, try to remember to stop once in a while and do a chalk drawing.
