The Nineties Are Back In My Apartment

God Fodder

"Oh my god, John. You look like the bands I used to listen to in high school. You're so Ned's Atomic Dustbin."

"I'm going more for 'brooding.' Nirvana."

"Actually, you look more like what I tried to look like in the early nineties."

"Yeah, why was it you were always trying to look like a boy?"

"And now I'm in floral leggings. This is too weird. And look at his shirt."

"1990: I was there, man. I got the t-shirt."

He was THERE.

(My brother, who never really wears his hair like this, has just released a fantastic album on iTunes called Bells and Bones. I love "The Birdcage" and "For Emilia" in particular. And I used "Walk With Me" in the video of our 1970s backyard. Go have a listen. It sounds nothing like Ned's Atomic Dustbin.)

I just bought some floral leggings in Japan! Still trying to figure out when to wear them...haha :)

I owned God Fodder at one point. And I was briefly nostalgic for Ned's, although I couldn't remember what they sounded like; I had a lot of faith in the music taste of 17-yr-old me.

Your brother's album is lovely and interesting. Wish I had better language to describe it. Wish, too, I had better headphones.
